superman returns coursework summary

the titles in the opening sequence of batman are in a bold  white and also placed in the middle of the page. the reason why the titles our in bold to give you information that this is the film and show important. the tiles are white because the background is black so it makes stand out more.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ao3wnpXEco in the opening sequence a sound motif has been use to build up tension. non-diegetic sound has also been use because their is no action to make an actually sound.

There are no character use in the opening sequence.

the most dominate of mise en scene is the lighting as you have a black back ground with little burst of lights. the setting of the opening scene is clouds.

the use of proairetic code were used in the sound of motif as the music builds up tension. The hermeneutic code has also been used by the opening scene gets the audience guess to whats going to happen nexts.

you know the genre is action/super hero by the way the mise en scene has been use and also the way the music combines with together.

opening sequence of batman begins

In the opening sequence you are presented with a black canvas that has burst of light in the background, this connotes that against the dark and empty soul of the blackness that there is little burst of hope in life, the light effect that was a naturalistic as the burst of light can be represent as lightening and pitch blackness of clouds in the night.
The theory of binary opposites of lonely vs being fulfilled in life. As the blackness represent emptiness, that nothing is there left to hold on too and the burst of light can be shown as life is there something to hold on too. This adds tension as you can never trust with what’s happen, it indices the audience to find out more.

The credits have started by this point. In the first credit a faded in and stays in focus for a couple of seconds then fades out, this connotes that when you first think you have something that it can go in a blink of an eye. All of the credits have all been insert then a cutaway, the main point that i would have to pick that the where the credits have been placed, i think the editing put this for a purpose because the rule of thirds has been you’d to please the eye.

Expansion of time has also been used for every credit. As the credit is insert the time expansion is speeded up and when the fade out is used the expansion of time has slowed back down to normal pas. I think the semantic code could have been used because the way the credits have be protrude as some lurking in the shades.

The sound track that goes with the film starts of slowly and eerie and as the first credit starts to fade in the music starts to become louder and the pas of music is at a faster repetition. This builds tension and it gives the audience a bit of excitement.  Also synchronous sound has been use to go along with the natural lightening, as the burst of lights the connation of power as the music becomes louder and burst of lights coming thought the darkness.

The only cinematography that was used was an establishing shot to give an expression on what the film going to be about, sets up the narrative to the film. Then it moves into a tracking shot to give the expression that you are been taking into the film and you are a part of the film too as you see it though your own eyes.

I believe that the enigma code was used in the title sequence at the ever end you have a zoom of fly bats coming toward the camera . The connotation is that it adds mystery to the audience and makes the guessing in till the final scenes when all is revealed and all loose end have been tide off.  Over all this a good opening sequence because it make the audience wanting to find out more.

superman returns coursework

In the opening scene of superman returns you are presented with a fire ball that been zoom into such a degree a wide shot has been used and moves into a reverse zoom as if the fire ball was just falling within itself then explosion of a new blue fire ball that has expended to out of the shot so that you are enticed around this new fire ball. This connotes that the red fire ball could of getting rid of the old and in with the new and how time change. Editing was used for the next’s scene, as the blue fire was use to represent new life then a graphic match was use to make the centre of the fire ball to look like a planet.
An establishing was use to set the scene and tell you the audience where we are.  An extreme zoon was used to pin point that meteorites have some kind of importance, as the meteorites went pass we had a use of a sting, this makes the audience a sense of being there and that it’s actually happening around them. By this point the credits start along with the sound tract, the credit have been given a effect of the letter being stretched because the expansion of time has been sped up but the credit have stayed the same too live the stretched look. The sound track is tensing at first to give the audience a bit of uncertainty as what’s going to happen next’s, slowly as it goes on, building momentum as the camera is using tracking shot, the faster the tracking becomes the music becomes louder and more uplifting.
Another graphic match has been used again of an effect of fire has been use again as the zoom and then the reverse zoom was use you had the image of symbol of the superman badge, this connotes  sets up the film as you now know what this film is about and who it is about.
The way in which the title sequences is being shown as if it’s been seen though someone’s eyes and that we are going on the journey with them. This feeling connotes that it’s us going through the flying experience as we by pass planets and meteorites.
The semantic code was used at the beginning of title sequences when you are given a fire ball at the beginning what is seems but it actually becomes a planet at the end, this would have been done to give a back ground story to something or someone because we now know where it started and where it’s going to finish at earth.
The theory of binary opposites is there as you have the super-natural against the natural, from being in space in the super-natural then to stop at earth for the natural, the connote set up the audience to be unsure on what’s going to happen when both of the naturals meet.
It makes the audience wanting to find out more.
